Transportation Policy
The Use of Japan's Public Transportation System
Hokkaido Day Tours Guides utilizes Japan's highly efficient, safe, and reliable public transportation network to transport guests to and from tour destinations. Depending on the tour itinerary and location, transportation may include JR trains, subway systems, public buses, street trams, and taxis.
Our tours are carefully designed to ensure that all destinations are conveniently accessible within a reasonable travel time, allowing guests to experience Hokkaido comfortably while benefiting from Japan's world-class transportation infrastructure.
Guests may purchase transportation fares using either cash or Japan's convenient IC card system, which provides seamless access across most public transportation services. IC cards can be easily charged and used throughout the tour.
Private Rental Vehicle Option
For small groups (4 guests or fewer), a more private transportation option, travel by rental vehicle may be arranged upon request in many cases.
Guests requesting a rental car are responsible for all associated expenses, including but not limited to:

Vehicle rental fees

Fuel costs

Insurance coverage

Highway and expressway tolls

Parking fees

Any other applicable transportation-related charges
Rental Vehicle Policy
Please review the following policy for tours that require a rental vehicle.
Step 1
The customer/guest rents the vehicle directly from the rental company. Hokkaido Day Tours / Hokkaido Tour Guides will not rent the vehicle.
Step 2
The customer/guest is the primary renter. Hokkaido Day Tours / Hokkaido Tour Guides is not the primary renter of the vehicle.
Step 3
The tour guide may be listed as an authorized additional driver, if permitted by the rental company.
Step 4
Hokkaido Day Tours / Hokkaido Tour Guides charges only for guiding and tour services, not transportation.
Step 5
The rental vehicle cost is paid directly to the rental company by the customer/guest.

Rental vehicle requests are subject to availability and itinerary suitability and should be discussed with Hokkaido Tour Guides prior to tour confirmation.
